What is Made Green in Italy
Product Environmental Footprint (PEF) is a Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) methodology defined by the European Commission. It aims to provide measurement of the environmental impacts of a product or service throughout its life cycle. The Italian government has adopted the European PEF regulation to create a voluntary national environmental footprint calculation scheme called “Made Green in Italy”
The 100% Italian sustainable EVO oil*
Oleificio Zucchi conducted the entire process for obtaining the Made Green in Italy label issued by the Ministry of Environment and Energy Security. The product under study is the 100% Italian sustainable evo oil 1L, 750ml and 500ml already certified against CSQA’s DTP 125 “sustainable extra virgin oil” standard. The quantification of the environmental performance of the product, is based on a comprehensive PEF study, verified and validated by an independent third party, which provides three performance classes: A (value above the benchmark); B (value close to the benchmark); C (value below the benchmark) Results obtained by Oleificio Zucchi in comparison with the CPR benchmark of the 100% Italian Sustainable EVO product are:
Format (L) | Score obtained by Oleificio Zucchi (pt) | Class A reference range | Class obtained |
---|---|---|---|
0,5 | 142 | ≤147 | A |
0,75 | 129 | ≤147 | A |
1 | 131 | ≤147 | A |
*Certified according to the Technical Product Specification 125 (DTP 125) of CSQA
The study was carried out using the Environmental Product Footprint (PEF) calculation method developed by the European Commission for quantifying environmental product impacts and in accordance with the Product Category Rules (CPR) for Italian Extra Virgin Olive Oil as defined of the Made Green in Italy scheme. This environmental footprint statement refers to the “Environmental Footprint Assessment Study of Zucchi Sustainable EVO Oil – 100% Italian.” Both documents have been independently verified by a third party agency.
